Pre-requisite and installation:

eDMSfree works on any machine and operating system including a JAVA virtual machine from Sun microsystem (Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS, Linux, Unix,…). It is compatible from version 1.6 but we recommend a regular update for security reasons.

The implementation of the eDMSfree management system requires at least one server (virtualized or not), which will depend on the capacity and performance of the future system, with two essential components.

A relational database (e.g. MySQL or SQL server) for the management of documentary information, users, etc… http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/

One or more FTP servers (e.g. FileZilla) allowing the storage of the documents itself: http://filezilla-project.org/

The only component needed is the Sun microsystem Java Runtime: http://www.java.com/fr/

Server side:

  1. Install the database software according to the editor’s instructions. You will need administrator IDs.
  2. In the same way install the FileZilla server and create a user pointing to an unreachable disk directory on your network. Make sure that this user is password-protected and that the account created has all the rights to the shared folders (Files and directories).
  3. Install the JAVA runtime in its latest version.
  4. Launch the eDMSfree module and let you guide you through the creation of the documentary database.
  5. Once configured, restart eDMSfree and, in administration module (last icon on top right), create one or more users and groups and change the environment to use the FileZilla server as the storage server.
  6. Check and if necessary modify or delete the types of documents that you do not want to manage.
  7. Launch the full-text indexing engine, possibly scheduling its operating time ranges.

Customer side:

  1. Install the JAVA runtime in its latest version.
  2. Launch the eDMSfree module and let you guide the first launch to enter the server access IDs.
  3. Put a shortcut on the desktop with an appropriate icon.
